The "Benjamin Schaefer Trio" is based in Cologne, Germany. Their music - which exclusively consists of original compositions - can be placed in the modern jazz idiom, influenced by both the jazz tradition and European classical music.

Even in harmonically dense and rhythmically complex parts, the trio always contains a strong sense for melodic beauty and magical ambiences.

All three musicians are equal partners in the musical development, interacting and improvising on a very high level. A great deal of musical knowledge and subtlety is paired with vitality and the sheer joy of playing. The result is a fascinating musical experience for experts and laymen alike.

The trio's first CD "Shapes & Colours" (2004) was widely recognized as an "astonishingly mature debut". Their second CD "Roots and Wings" will be released in February 2008 on the renowned ENJA label.
