HORO the eastern jazz Ensemble

horo uses the rhythmics and the gripping melodies of Eastern European and Arabic folk dances in exceptional arrangements and combines them with modern jazz-harmony. This exciting musical mixture is the basis for improvisations, which give every tune its individual character.

The band horo was founded during the project "Jazz meets Classic" of the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart. In the meanwhile, horo developed to a perfectly working band. The musical interplay between an experienced jazz band and a classical string quartet creates the special sound of the octett.

In 2006, horo presented their music for the first time during the Stuttgart concert events Ohren auf gen Osten. Another highlight was a concert at the Kultursommer Germersheim. The year 2007 started with an engagement at the Stuttgart International exhibition for tourism, where horo played for Bulgaria Travel and for the SWR broadcasting company. In April, horo released their CD Chuperlika must die with support of the label dml-records. In summer/autumn 2007, the musicians will go on tour through the eastern Mediterranean area.
