Also on his third CD as a composer and bandleader Heidelberg drummer Dirik Schilgen integrates and varies in a wonderful light manner the myriad facets of Jazz, Soul and Brazilian music. This style has marked his career till now and has been continued and developed on the actual release: “On the Move”.

The compositions and arrangements are outstanding for their manifoldness. They are clear in character and reflect a very fine feeling for rhythm and melody.

Blazing brass riffs, funky beats, swinging to rockin’ grooves and floating Latin rhythms: this all creates a mélange of very laissez-faire and groovy music. Schilgen impresses with his two-part writing musical themes by his individual and unconventional technique. The handling of Drum Set as well as Brazilian-Percussion in one setup, combined with trumpet/flugelhorn, tenor/soprano saxophone, piano and double bass renders „on the move “ the special touch. A jazzy mélange of the combination of rediscovered sounds from North America to Brazil, in addition to a wisp of European music.

On this CD, the "JazzGrooves" project presents some of the most excellent musicians from the Rhine-Neckar area. For more than 20 years now Dirik Schilgen has been playing with Matthias Dörsam in various formations. The band has been completed by the younger generation of excellent musicians around Mannheim: Pianist Daniel Prandl and Matthias Debus on bass. New impulses are put to The “JazzGrooves”- Sound by the outstanding trumpeter from Cologne, Volker Deglmann,
