When describing the music of the Gradwohl/Covington Group, one finds oneself exploring the broad spectrum between jazz and fusion, built upon the foundations of modern jazz harmony and characterised by hard grooving funk and rock influences.

Kirk Covington’s influence is no less significant – the project is not only enlivened by his world class drumming, but also by his strong and dynamic voice.

However, never in this expansive palette of musical elements and styles can arbitrariness be found. The musicians – hand-picked team players of the international jazz/fusion scene – interpret the selected compositions in their own distinctive way, putting their unique stamps on the music, to create a project whose artistic individuality lives and breathes through the listening and expressive skills of the band members.

The pieces also display manifold compositional signatures of the musicians: the dynamic original compositions, whether notated or improvised, are incorporated into the themes and extensive soloistic contributions with a large portion of funk and rock music that not only activates those from the jazz and fusion camps to listen and be thrilled.

The Gradwohl/Covington Group presents music from the solo albums of its individual members and promises to wake curiosity with this – until now – unprecedented musical encounter.
