Moo Lohkenn Source Of Sound is a trio established 2005 in NYC by German singer Moo Lohkenn with Leonard Jones, an African American double bass player and AACM musician from Chicago, and New York percussionist Lou Grassi.

Free creative sound move, jazz and song merge in a unique fashion to form iridescent aural events, soulful, ecstatic and pushing the borders.

The music is based on the singer’s playing concepts, compositions and poetry, fleshed out by improvisation. The trio, who have performed in clubs across Germany and in the US, but also put in appearances as festival guests, play free creative jazz with an aural focus on border-pushing moments from which occasionally emerge soul-inflected, bluesy islands of song and lyrics...

CD and concert reviews (for example in New York’s Cadence magazine, or the Finish Jazzrytmit) describe her voice as powerful, sensual, enveloping, grand, versatile and rich in timbres, the trio as a combination of fascinating vocals with virtuoso instrumental performance, and the music as a sound event that harbours a sensationally powerful magic.
