The quintet JAZZPARTOUT (Winner of the Bucharest International Jazz Competition 2008) around the expressive singer Anne Czichowsky ranges stylistically in modern mainstream jazz. The five educated jazz musicians coming from the region of Stuttgart present a well-balanced mixture of own compositions and inventively arranged jazz standards, building new bridges between instrumental and vocal jazz.

The fundament of the quintet is based on the energetic interplay of drummer Jan-Philipp Wiesmann and bassplayer Markus Braun, these two musicians play together for many years and are part of numerous jazzgroups in South-Germany. Whether playing bebop or samba, they always got it cookin'!

Stefan Koschitzki is a member of the "Jazz orchestra of the Federal Republic of Germany" (direction: Peter Herbolzheimer), he enriches the music of Jazzpartout with impressive melodical highlights. Whether on saxophone or flute, he's able to play both rapidly impulsive and empathetically restrained.

Peter Gromer on piano, who in addition to his studies of jazz piano in Stuttgart also studied filmscoring at Berklee College of Music in Boston, distinguishes himself through tasteful solo improvisations and through his harmonic ingenuity.

His creative way of composing music in conjunction with the soulful lyrics of Anne Czichowsky is primary for the repertoire of "Jazzpartout".

Anne Czichowsky herself is very keen to experiment and her great passion are vocaleses of every description. Whether John Coltrane or Chet Baker, she's capable of shaping her warm sound ever variously. In 2008, she won the "International Jazz Singer Contest Lady Summertime" in Finland.

The first album of Jazzpartout called "RISE" is published in February 2009 on the label "Neuklang". (Bauer Studios). On their debut album, JAZZPARTOUT succeeds in merging vocal and instrumental jazz in a brilliant way. In addition to lively but also soulful originals such as "Rise and fall" or "You Made Me Smile", "RISE" particularly pays tribute to masterpieces of great ideals such as Pat Metheny or Chick Corea. Always highly energetic and ever diversified, every composition on "RISE" maintains its very own electrifying line of suspense.

Lauren Kinhan, liner notes on "RISE":

"I had many chances to hear this ambitious collective of musicians share their musical vision, and they moved me, no, they inspired me to listen more intently. What I saw and heard was a unified voice, yet each member had plenty of breathing room and individual expression. They are serious in their purpose. They tackle repertoire from Miles, Metheny and Chick and make it their own, and also offer up a few originals. (…)

Peter, who often leads the arranging charges dreams big, adding flighty lines for Anne and Stefan to navigate while living comfortably in this mature grooving rhythm section. It's wonderful to see the vocal and instrumental worlds merged so well. (…)

Anne is the rare singer who loves melding with the band, flowing from lyrics to functioning as a second horn player with a keen sense of the subtle nuances in those shifts. (…)

They all share the vision of Jazzpartout and you can feel it. You can hear their pride in their music and that is what is so contagious. Music is meant to be exciting, not just for the listener, but for the performer. (…)
