Dixie Tramps

"In 1975 the "Blassportgruppe DO-Nord” planned to rename itself. A name had to be found that reflected the taste of the music lovers of the seventies.

In the rehearsal room, the boiler room of a Dortmund hospital (Joho), the band's founder decided: Hilmar Mertins, tp - Dieter Blomberg, cl - Walter Weiss, tb / sousa - Jochen Ahle, dr / g - and Werner Rathert, bj – on the new long version band name: "OLD-DIXIE-TRAMPS Jazzband”.

Common Knowledge - not only in professional circles – is that making music leads to an excessive evaporation rate of body fluids, especially in the genius of wood and brass players, so that after the boiler room, bunker and catholicKindergarten (where the Minister planned to have us play at his mess) the need to find a sample chamber of fluid exchange from relevant equilibrium considerations was inevitable. A Pub owner in the far H. – Hengsen was located who had the capabilities to accept musical excesses of Brass Bands and secondly was able to satisfy all excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages of the musicians (for water and evaporation balance approach).

It came, as it had to come. The band became known and loved. More and more friends and fans imitated the evaporation compensation method introduced by the musicians."

Sure, many bands have their core audience, but once again I always noticed that our fans are special, because they are just as insane, as we musicians are, and also almost can hold a drink as good as we can...!!

We always attached less importance to the gods of the old-time purist, but presenting a casual party atmosphere at our concerts. And I am sure that we succeeded.

So, and now we're back...!!
