In 1998 the CD of Hartog & Martini came out, a funky pop jazz duo together with guitarist Wolf Martini. The duo played several support acts for Tuck & Patti, who called them "incredible musicians". In 1999-2001 he was in 'R. E. S. P. E. C. T. ', a soul revue co-starring Denise Jannah, Forrest Thomas, Rocq-E Harrell, Lydia van Dam and Michelle David. In 2001 he started teaching at the Arnhem Conservatory.

In 2000 together with Vincent Helbers he started Flowriders, a band that combines nu-jazz with soul and funky broken beats. Flowriders played the North Sea Jazz Festival and was support act for Lamb, Isaac Hayes, Nils Petter Molvaer and Bugge Wesseltoft. Their first single (with UK's Bugz in the Attic remix) was picked up by international dj's like Gilles Peterson. In 2005 the Flowriders album CD will come out on 4lux Recordings.
