Christian Pabst is a pianist and composer. He is a graduate of the renowned European Jazz Master and studied piano and filmmusic at the conservatories of Amsterdam, Paris and Copenhagen.

He gave concerts in India, South Africa, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, Poland, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy, Great – Britain, Switzerland, Austria, France, Monaco, Luxemburg, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany.

Born 1984 in a small German village close to the French border, he started playing the piano at the age of 7 and became passionate about Jazz when he joined the local big band. In 2006, Christian moved to the Netherlands to study jazz piano and filmmusic in Amsterdam.

His main project is his prize-winning trio. The group’s debut album “Days of Infinity” (feat. Gerard Presencer) was released by Challenge Records International and hailed by the international press. Jazzwise, the biggest British jazz magazine gave 4 stars and drew comparisons with EST. Besides their regular appearances on European jazz festivals such as North Sea Jazz, the trio was honored with prizes on many international competitions, e.g. Dutch Jazz Competition, Amersfoort Jazztalent Award, Jazz Hoeilaart, etc.

In 2014, the new CD „Song of Opposites“ has been released which features not only the trio but also an international top-ensemble with strings, horns and vocals.

Furthermore, Christian was the pianist of the BuJazzO (National German Jazz Orchestra), which gave him the possibility to work with important conductors and artists. Some highlights included a tour with symphony orchestra through South Africa and a tour through India with Indian percussion virtuosos.

Being part of many diverse projects, ranging from solo concerts to the tap-dance crossover of “Purple Gazelle” to the modern jazz of the Copenhagen-based Lubos Soukup Quartet, Christian is building up a reputation as a versatile open-minded pianist who cares more about musical intensity and authenticity than genre. His newest project is “Pitch Plot 4” – the new international quartet lead by Dutch flutist Jeroen Pek, with amongst others bassist James Cammack who played for thirty years with the legendary Ahmad Jamal Trio.

At the moment, Christian performs internationally, composes and arranges for different ensembles, writes filmmusic and is teaching at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. Furthermore, Christian has been selected for “Concert Ephémère”, a French TV- and Web-documentary about European musicians, which will be broadcasted in many European countries.
