Ulrich Cordes (*1980) studied at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Köln Church Music and Vocal Performance (with Prof. Christoph Prégardien). Since 2010 he continues working with Prof. Konrad Jarnot.
Cordes has been participating in concerts all over Europe, Russia, Brazil and the USA. His repertoire contains Bach's "St Matthew Passion" and "St John Passion", Händel's oratorios, Haydn's "The Creation", "The Seasons" and Masses, Mozart's "Requiem", Mendelssohn's oratorios, Beethoven's "Ninth Symphony" and Rossini's "Petite Messe solenelle" among others.
He already has been invited as soloist to many concert Halls like the Berlin Konzerthaus, the Berlin Philharmonie, the Concerthall "De Singel" (Antwerpen), the Palais de Beaux Arts (Bruxelles), the Cologne Philharmonie, the Dijon Auditorium, the Munich Philharmonie, the Herkulessaal Munich, the Muziekgebouw aan't Iij Amsterdam, the Theater "de Oosterport" Groningen, the Teatro Salvador da Bahia (Brazil) and others. In November 2011 he sang his first concert in the Alice Tully Hall (Lincoln Center, New York).
Ulrich Cordes' concert partners have been the Nederlandse Bachvereniging, the Bach Collegium München, the Hannoversche Hofkapelle, Musica Fiata, La Beata Olanda, Pratum Integrum (Moscow), the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, or the Orquestra Sinfonica da Bahia (Salvador) under direction of Conductors like Hansjörg Albrecht, Marcus Creed, Gabriel Garrido, Roy Goodman, Emil Tabacov, Pascal Verrot, Roland Wilson and many others. Beside his participations in concerts he appeared on the opera stage in various productions, for example as Don Ottavio (Solingen Theatre in 2009) or as Belmonte in Mozarts "Entführung aus dem Serail" (Mozartsommer Würzburg 2010). In 2010 he also sung at the Stuttgart State Opera (Elena Kats Chernin, "The Rage of Life"). In 2011 he will sing the "Eurimaco" in the Opera "Il Ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria" (Claudio Monteverdi, Theatre Münster).
He sang on different Festivals, for instance the "Rheingau Musik Festival", the "Schwetzinger Festspiele", "Les Chemins de Baroque" (Elsaß), the "Bonner Beethovenfest", the "Bachwoche Greifswald", the "Bachfest Leipzig", the "Mozartsommer Würzburg" among others.
In 2008 Cordes was presented with a 2nd rank for his Audition for the "Podium junger Gesangssolisten" in Kassel, Germany.
