Dirik Schilgen

Dirik Schilgen: born 1965 in Emsdetten (Westf) /Germany.

Music Education in Münster (Westf), Studies of Jazz- and Popular Music at Hilversum Conservatory (Netherlands) and Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten f. e. with Alex Acuna, Ed Thigphen, Jack de Johnette.

Serveral early tours and recordings with Martin Classen Quartet and Florian Poser Group.

Since 1991 he lives in the Rhein-Neckar Area as a freelance musician and as a drum instructor and jazz teacher. Several productions in the fields of jazz, pop, and Brazil music show his ability to play masterly and sensitively in different styles.

In the last years he has got specialised on Brazil music and Brazil jazz also worked with Brazilian groups, as for example with the bands of Martin Müller and Viviane de Farias.

Schilgen also performs with "Schlag auf Schlag"at WDR, NDR and SWR Broacast and TV – Shows.

He also recorded and toured with Phil Abraham, Luciano, Biondini, Wayne Bartlett, Bill Ramsey, Greetje Kauffeld, Annette Lowman, Viviane de Farias, Anette von Eichel, Nice Brazil, Hugo Read, Olaf Schönborn, Rainer Pusch, Tobias Langguth, Anke Helfrich, Wolf Mayer, Christoph Mudrich, Jimmy Woode, Thomas Stabenow a. o.

As an instructor he is working on serveral workshops for jazzbands and band coaching. Since 2006 he is teaching jazz drums at "Musikhochschule Würzburg".
