Albrecht Maurer studied violin at the Musikhochschule Köln. In addition, he pursued the study of non- European tonal systems and computer music with Johannes Fritsch und Klarenz Barlow. In the eighties Albrecht Maurer mainly played jazz fusion on synthesizers, violin and voice, while studying classical music. In the early nineties he began to focus on expanding and reinventing the violin‘s musical place: his works are characterized by sounds and loops, a broad timbral spectrum, percussive imitations and grooves all in combination with the energy of jazz and a classical technique. He has worked with many jazz musicians including Theo Jörgensmann, Kent Carter, Wolter Wierbos, Lucian Ban, Mar Maneri, Benoit Delbecq, Peter Jacquemyn, Achim Krämer, Bobo Stenson, Klaus Kugel, Claudio Puntin, Norbert Stein, Charlie Mariano, Karl Berger, Carla Bley, Steve Argüelles, Lauren Newton, Kate Westbrook and Barre Phillips.

With Ensemble Dialogos from Paris leaded by Katarina Livljanic Albrecht Maurer played together with Norbert Rodenkirchen on festivals in France, Spain, Croatia, England, Italy, Slowenia, Germany, Belgium, Canada and USA. Highlights were concerts in London South Bank Center, Cite de la Music Paris, San Sebastian Festival, Split Festival (award for the best musical performance), Zadar Festival, Boston Festival, Barcelona Festival, Rom, Vancouver UBC Hall, Festival Printemps des Art Festival Opera Monaco, White light Festival, Lincoln Center New York. www.albrechtmaurer.com
