Over the last decade Nicola Conte has introduced a new wave of modern sounds from Italy. Through references of jazz and soundtracks from the 60's and 70's, the angry young man from Bari gained world-wide recognition as a DJ & record producer and scored an underground hit with his first single "Bossa per Due", followed by the Jet Sounds album, released in 2000 which convinces with his updated arrangements and the gentle use of electronics. Countless DJ performance dates were lined-up all over the scene from Tokyo to Moscow, from San Francisco to Belo Horizonte. The "New Standards ep" showed his growth as a composer/producer on the jazz/electronic tip. Almost all of 2001 was dedicated to the production of Rosalia De Souza's first solo album, a collection of Bossa nova with a visionary contemporary twist. Nowadays when you hear a track that sounds so perfectly swinging 60's and at the same time so updated then you are probably listening to something by Nicola Conte. Always with a strong jazz feel, great solos, Latin rhythms, and dreamy vocals, but never easy, or self accomplished. (electric chair booking)
