"This trio consists of drummer Grassi and bassist Jones mixing it up with vocalist Lohkenn who uses her voice like a powerful swooping and diving weapon. Sometimes, as on "Source", her wordless shouts mix with Grassi’s volcanic drumming in a way that recalls Abbey Lincoln and Max Roach. On other pieces she cries, moans, and wails as though she is entering a trance state. On "To The Mothers" she sings what sounds like a Hebrew prayer over quiet plucked bass. "The Power" is menacing chanting over a tom-tom beat, "Five Colours" is a guttural scat fest, and "Wise And True" is cantorial wailing over an eerie wash of bowed bass and shimmering cymbals. "Out Of The Nothing" starts with galloping drum and bass solos and gives way to Lohkenn actually singing lyrics in a forceful gospel-blues voice. Her voice throughout this disc is sensual and enveloping and with this stellar rhythm section she weaves spells of startling power.”
